I grew up on a small farm in Kansas. Few things really piqued my interest like when I first sat down at a computer. It took my parents forever to get one (I was 11 and it was December 1999, literally right before the alleged Y2K catastrophe was going to start) and it was a beast. It ran Windows ’98, had a 16 GB hard drive (My cell phone now has a bigger hard drive) and we only had snail-paced, 56k dial up. I loved it.
I have always been tinkering with technology. I even produced electronic music for a few years, learning the ins and outs of Ableton Live. Through a series of opportunities, I ended up working for Mammoth Management, a local-based musician management group. My first role was as an art & branding director and a graphic designer. One of our artist needed a website done and I was assigned the position of creative director. When the project did not feel like it was turning out the way that I wanted it, I decided to do it myself. I went through a quick crash course of HTML, CSS, and WordPress and started working. It took forever, but it was the best way for me to learn. Digging in and getting my hands dirty meant I could cement a solid grasp on how the rules worked and web design/Wordpress has stuck ever since.
In the spring and summer months I am usually racing a bicycle competitively. I have a 7 year old Vizsla Labrador mix, named Leia (yes, after Star Wars) and we both enjoy eating tator tots together.
